In May of 2009, the day after my birthday and 7 days before Seth’s 11th birthday, we were given the news that Seth would be having open heart surgery again.  It was bitter sweet news because, while this surgery would close two holes in his heart and give him a normal oxygen level for the first time in his life, it was still another open-heart surgery. 

I would be the one to walk with Seth into the operating room, and I knew what they would do to him there.  I’m no Abraham, but it felt an awful lot like being called to lay my child down for sacrifice.

This surgery was also something I had prayed against for almost 11 years.  I knew that I could never go through this again.  I couldn’t do it, even though I love the Lord, and I knew His promises. 

That’s when I remembered Seth’s birth.  I remembered his first surgery at 4 days old and the doctor’s promises of more surgeries in the next few months.  And, I remembered the Mom I was – a Mom deprived of sleep, who read the verses of healing over her son all day, every day.  I remembered the woman who told each doctor that my son was in God’s hands and would not bow to their plans.  How could I become that woman again?

That’s how this e-book, “The Faith Challenge” was born.   God whispered the lessons He wants you and I to learn.  He taught me His names, so we can know Him better.  God showed me all the verses of His Word that talked of healing.
