A friend just shared this video on Facebook, and I thought it was something that every beloved visitor to my site needs to hear. Based, on Jeremiah 29:11, this song speaks God’s truth so clearly. Nothing happens in your life unbeknown to God. Nothing in your life is out of His control. Nothing comes as a surprise to Him. He has a plan for your life, your child’s life and it is good. We should strive, everyday, walk in this reality.
This video is also beautifully done. About a minute into the song, you will see powerful verses shared. Please feel free to pause the video so that you can allow the timeless laws of God’s love and active presence in your life to soak in. I also appreciated that half way through the song, the visual messages stop with the encouragement to “Just listen to Him to speak to you”. What do you hear Him say to you?
Are you ready for Christmas or, like me, and still busy getting there? It’s funny how all month I thought I still had plenty of time to get everything done and then, all of sudden, Christmas is here! I confess that I did not do a good job of planning my December before it got here, and when Seth’s weeks of illnesses popped up right away at the beginning of the month, I was not prepared. Lesson learned! Next year, I’m getting my “Filling Christmas with Christ” out in the middle of November (or sooner) and getting ready – gift lists, food lists and the invaluable backup plans will be set for December!
Busyness is exactly what causes us to lose sight of the reason we celebrate. As I feel myself anxiously running through the to do list in my mind, I find the joy of Christ’s birth being replaced with stress. How about you?
I shared this video on my Facebook page today, and wanted to share it here. Made to Francesca Battistelli’s “You’re Here”, it’s not only beautiful, but in just a few minutes it will help you to relax and refocus on Jesus. It’s a wonderful visual reminder of the reason why we are celebrating this weekend – our Lord and Savior came to save and to love us. He walked this earth caring for people just like you and me. Be blessed!
Have a very Merry Christmas and may Christ’s presence fill your home!
I heard this song the other night, and while it’s not new, it grabbed me in a new way. It manages to wrap altogether much of what I’ve been writing about lately (most of which you haven’t read yet!) – God’s silence and God’s plans.
If you were part of my Messy Motives of a Worried Mom teleseminar, you know that we talked a lot about God’s silence. We looked at why He’s silent and what we can do to break that silence. As I write my Messy Motives of a Worried Mom e-book, boy, is God helping me to dig into this topic even more. I LOVE the good stuff He’s adding and can’t wait to share it with you.
Just the other day, I posted an article called “But God” (you can read it here: http://kimberlyehlers.com/but-god-by-kimberly-ehlers/ ). In the article, I wrote about the “but God” verses and how they reveal our plans (usually for bad) and His plans for good. Those good plans stem from His great love for us.
The song is called “Praise You In This Storm” by Casting Crowns and at the beginning they say, “I was sure by now, God, you would have reached down and wiped our tears away, stepped in and saved the day.” Sometimes our plans aren’t for bad (as in seeking revenge). We believe we know exactly what God’s good plan should look like. We think we know what needs to happen for our child’s very best. It’s painful and frightening when God doesn’t go according to our plan because we can’t imagine a better way or a better outcome. As this song beautifully expresses, and I shared in my article, His plan is always to stay with us, even if He’s silent and we don’t recognize Him. I also mentioned hearing God’s plan at the time we need direction the most. Sometimes, though, what we hear isn’t the plan for what will happen next or what we should do. It’s the reassurance of His plan to be by our side.
As the song says, “Where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of Heaven and Earth.” He is also the Maker and Fulfiller of His plans for us, “being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;” (Philippians 1:6, NKJV).
Enjoy the video and make sure to read my questions below it…
Do you trust that God’s plan is for your and your child’s good? Why or why not – what helps you to trust Him? What keeps you from trusting Him?
Happy Easter, my dear friends! I have to tell you that I am just busting with joy this Easter! I am so grateful for all that Jesus has done and continues to do for me.
Each Easter Sunday, my church shares an powerful video. I shared about this on both Twitter and my Facebook page - so I won’t go into great detail. If you’d like to see it (which I highly recommend), follow me on either sites – or both! You’ll have access to the video right away.
BUT, this video was an awesome reminder of who Jesus really was – not the delicate feminine man we see in so many paintings. He was strong, unafraid, and a man you wanted to be with. He was restrained power – totally awesome and totally love.
That’s the Jesus I want. That’s the Jesus I need. How about you? I want to grab on to that mightly Lord who doesn’t just stand by and witness life. Jesus has courage like no other and did I meantion His power? He makes the lame dance and the blind see. He makes the sinful saved. He has the mental and physical strength to take the torture we deserved. He is strong enough to carry our burdens and He wants to! I love this Savior of ours and want to know Him more!
So, will you celebrate this beautiful Easter morning with me? I love this song by Mark Schultz. It’s called “Love Has Come” and while it’s not necessarily an Easter song, its message is hopeful and its worship is wonderful – especially at the end, don’t miss it! It doesn’t allow me to post the full video on my site, you will have to Let’s hit that play button and worship! (By the way, what’s your favorite worship song? Share it below in the comments section!)
Just to be clear, I had nothing to do with making this video – I just found it on Youtube!
We carry so much on our shoulders and in our hearts because our children have serious illnesses. Our hearts ache and burst with love for them. They overflow with worry and waves of guilt. “I’m angry and I shouldn’t be. I should be patient.” “I’m fearful instead of trusting God.” “I’m failing my child. I’m failing God.” Our shoulders carry the weight of caring well for our child, working to find a cure, and trying to know what to do all the time.
What are you carry with you right now?
One of my prayers for you, my precious reader, is that you will find peace in God’s grace. He wants to sweep you up in His grace, carry your worries, heal your hurt, and wash away your shame. He wants you to come as you are so that He can hold you and your child.
He isn’t judging you. He is waiting for you to simply come.
I wanted to share this video that I found on YouTube. The song is called “Come as You Are” by Pocket Full of Rocks. The pictures, along with the lyrics, are a powerful way to receive God’s message. I do want to WARN you that at 1:50 – 1:52 in the video are a very graphic image of Christ on the cross. It’s realistic and, I believe, necessary for us to really grasp what God wants us to know – He loves us and would do anything for us. His arms are open wide for you and me.
